Painting up a Storm!!

My next local show will be in Farmington at the Davis County Fairgrounds.

It is always a great show with so many talented folks who bring their wares.

Back to School!!

Kids are back in school which is a little bitter sweet.

Our summer was a crazy busy one and we only had a few days of play time.

Now that my oldest is a Senior in High School it seems as though it was yesterday I was taking her to Kindergarten!

Now it is time to gear up for the Halloween season.  These are some of the things I painted over the summer in my 15 minutes alone time intervals. 

This was a new and exciting type of painting I tried when I had one WHOLE day to myself!

It is a Chris Haughey design I altered to fit on to this pumpkin.  

It has been sitting in my stash for quite awhile! 

My next local show will be at Simple Treasures in Farmington, September 17-20.

Simple Treasures Boutique

Headed off this AM to work my shift at this fun show.

This is not hard work by any means and usually means shopping while helping at the show!

This year was a bit of a hard set up.

First we had car problems after we had it packed,

Then a snow storm,

My husband was sick--not pretty,

Running late, 

But we made it and even remembered to take the camera--until the batteries died.

It was great to get home and have it behind us.

Here are some photos of the set up.

Now I am hoping I have no car problems and make it there if only to do my part by shopping!

Simple Treasures Show

IT STARTS TODAY!!

We were able to set up pretty quickly...naturally I forgot my camera.

It is interesting to see us unload because we cannot get in until 1:00 pm to set up so we usually go to Hill Air Force Base and shop at the commissary (or the CoMISERY) as my daughter calls it.

So out comes all the groceries and coolers before we can even get to the artwork and the grid.

People probable think we are there to stay.  We only go to the commissary about 4 times a year so it is a load of food we buy when we are there.

Chaos in Crafting

When I am getting ready for a craft show it is like a tornado hit the craft zone!

Things half painted, partially painted, some hanging on the walls, some inventoried, most not...I hate the paper work of inventory.

Basically CHAOS!

I have tried to enlist the help of the kids but as good as they are at helping around the house they do not enjoy doing inventory either.  So it is up to me.

So this is how the craft zone looks and my goal today is to finish up the art that is ready to be priced, inventory the lot, finish the frames that need to be painted, then start finishing up the 7 I have base coated! 

If I had workers that would do the inventory, cut and sand wood, base coat, did I mention do the inventory, set up...I would be so happy or would I?

Being the perfectionist type AA personality I would probably undo everything that was done and start again.

Maybe it is a good thing I am almost a one man show.

I do have to give my husband and dad credit for cutting wood and making frames for me.  These are things I don't necessarily know how or want to do.

Then my poor victimized husband helps me set up at shows.  Lucky for me because he has a good idea about arranging and displaying!

My next show will be Simple Treasures in Farmington.  It always comes faster then I think and there is always so much more that I wanted done.  But I do have a bit of time.....

Show set up and an injury

My poor hubby always willing to work hard and never complain...Sunday he was out checking on the garden and heard a pop. He came limping in and did not say a word to me. He was slightly gimping around and I did not think anything of it because I was so focused on my spring show. I thought he was feeling his age after he just tore up our entrance and  hallway floor to put down new tile. (We have talked about this for 6 years now.)

Finally I notice him limping and could hear the snap, crackle and pop every time he walked. He was not doing to well. The kids and I hauled all the grid and show stuff up the stairs and he directed packing it in to the van. Some how between the two of us we did get our 8x8 space set up in almost record time (2 hours 30 mins).  Good thing I am lifting 8 lb. weights at Jazz every morning!

 

We added some shelves with hooks and knobs he finally got a chance to make and some stacking boxes that were hits when we lived in Vegas.   Hope they sell here!

I will be working the show tomorrow and then take down is Saturday night.  Hopefully hubby will be feeling better but I think I see surgery in his horizon.

Hope not because he never sits still....sitting with him in a movie is like sitting by the most wiggly toddler ever only worse! A reason we (the kids and I) never take him to the movies!!
