Giveaway time....

So many things going on this time of year and wouldn't you know I end up sick.
Finally had to break down and go to the Doctor. Hopefully on the mend now but it is so hard and time consuming to get to the complete recovery stage.
Is this due to age, impatience about being sick, or just how sick you really are?
It has been a "one day at a time" kind of deal here.
But on to better things!
First the Old Farmhouse Gathering is having a treasury giveaway on Etsy.
Loads of fun hand mades! Here is the link to sign up and remember you could win it all!

This year I have tried to keep Christmas in my Heart the whole year through. I think I have done a better job about remembering the reason for the season more so this year because of it.
Since November is a big month here at our house:
Our wedding anniversary, both my daughter and son were born in this month, and Thanksgiving I decided to giveaway this angel ornament.
I am lucky and thankful to have angels that live with me in my house and some that watch over me in good and bad times.
You can read about this art work HERE.

Busy Sightseeing and a Giveaway!!

When we were sightseeing in the Southwest we decided to buy the Annual Park pass...so this means we have to get our money's worth!
One weekend we went to Promontory Point to see the sight were the two rail roads met.
While there we were looking at the well known photo of the joining of the track that is enlarged and on the wall of the visitor center.
They had named some of the people who were there to witness it and wouldn't you know right in the front was one of my great-great grandfathers!
It was a perfect day!  They only move the trains to bring them out, once to show how it moves by steam power and then to put them away at night.  We were lucky to have planned the trip just right so we were able to see the demonstration.
Continuing to see what is in our back yard we drove out to the Bonneville Salt Flats.
I am not sure why this tree but it is an interesting piece of art.
I have never seen the Salt Flats under water before and this was an interesting sight.
There was a good 3-4 inches of water across the desert floor.   So we got out and played in it!
One of the other things we were able to do on this little excursion was to go see the hanger were the Enola Gay was housed before it dropped the bomb in Japan during WWII.
It is hard to believe that Wendover, Utah/Nevada was so huge and populated at one time.
This was very interested to my son and I due to our obsession with all things WWII related.
One last little drive around the Nebo Loop to see the colors in the mountains!
We have already had snow so I am glad we were able to do this before all the leaves were completely gone.
We are to go to Yellowstone and the Tetons next week to make sure we got our money's worth out of the Annual pass but it is looking pretty bleak with the government shut down.
 But here's HOPING!!!

Since October is the month of CANDY and with keeping Christmas in my heart all year this fun little candy cane ornament will be given away to a winner.

A Celebration Giveaway!

 Time to Celebrate!!
We survived the physical labor of the Eagle Scout Project...now on to the paperwork!
It was a great experience and we were up there to see the plants are growing and thriving!
Success!!
Then survived another Birthday.  Thank you all for the best wishes for another year!
But I am curious about how come I am getting older by not wiser??
It is sad when you have to have your teenagers explain so many things to you....
Today got a Boy Scout off to a week long camp.  This is a load of work and I worry while he is gone.
I am not sure how my mom survived 4 boys and 4 girls doing scouting, 4-H, and school.
I hope to make it through my two kids.

So to CELEBRATE I will be giving one of these Patriotic stars away to a follower of my blog.
You can read about the description HERE.
I have the best time painting these and they are truly one of my favorite things.  I think I already had a giveaway once before for one of these but when you like it what can you say!?!
Also with keeping Christmas in my heart all year this fun little snowman ornament will be given away to a winner.  I love the purple shades--for some reason they make me happy!

Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sale and a GIVEAWAY

I am not the world's best shopper and having to be in crowds gives me anxiety to the max!
I wonder if anyone is like me in that way?
I think this all stemmed from trying to go to the grand opening of the Luxor Casino in Las Vegas when I first started dating my husband. The crowds were unreal, and coming from a small town in Colorado at the time, it was soooo overwhelming to me.
I think this was the place I lost my mind...what little I had to begin with.

So the convenience of shopping on line is HEAVEN to me.
Bunny slippers and Diet Pepsi…I am set.

With all of that being said I am having a 10% off everything in my Etsy shop with either the codes BLACKFRIDAY or CYBERMONDAY in the code spot.
This is for all merchandise in my shop but excludes shipping fees.
This will run from November 23 through December 1.

Now for the Giveaway:

This fun Santa will be my giveaway during this time.
This will also end on December 1, 2012 so that I can get him in the mail to the winner for holiday decorating before the season is over.

Thank you to everyone "WHOO" stopped by and commented on my trio of woes!!
I really appreciate your concern and comments.
So finally taking the plunge and using random.org the winner was #6:
Congratulations!
I had never used random.org so that was a fun little trick.
I will contact you Colleen for your address.

We finally managed to get the front room back together complete with photos on the wall!
But before I could even snap a photo out came the Lego Castle Fortress set smack dab on the center table and the end tables.
My son has been losing his mind about getting the front room done so he could get his Lego's back out to play mid-evil war!
What can I say...it is the "family room" too!
I would love to send each of you a set of Lego's but I would not be allowed to live here if I did that!
Thanks for stopping by!

Rain Dance Giveaway!!

This was our view while watching fireworks on the 4th of July. These are images I borrowed from the Internet because I forgot my camera.
I was more intrigued by watching the fire move up or down the mountain then the actual fire works.  Our little town does it up but this was something to see.
Luckily Mother Nature took pity on us and yesterday we had a huge rain fall.
For us it was a mixed blessing.  I am glad to have the rain but my husband and I were out at 6am to put the last of the tar paper up on our house before the rain came  down. Hopefully our house will survive all of this.
In the happy spirit of RAIN I will be having a quickie giveaway of these watermelon magnets.
I love watermelon!!  So refreshing!
The only rule is to leave a comment on this post and I will pick a winner Saturday the 7th of July in the evening. (After a long day of working on the house.)
Just a quick reminder of the Christmas in July sale I am having at my Etsy shop.
I have free shipping on all magnets, ornaments, and pins during CIJ!
Plus a clearance section with 50% off during the whole month of July.

Click on the link above to go to my shop.
Good luck to all and enjoy your day!

D-Day Remembered

June 6, 1944
I am a reader!  What I read is about WWII.  I am not sure how it all started but I have found that time period fascinating.  I wonder if it has anything to do with living next door to our neighbors who came from Germany.  They told some stories of their survival living under the Nazi Occupation and it was fairly frightening to a pre-teen.
What is it in people that makes them survive?
What makes people join in on a fight?
After reading many books about the war, the strategies, the people involved, the people of the Holocaust, the POW's caught on both sides of the war I just cannot get my mind around the survival instinct.  I can understand the Patriotism but there has to be more....
Would I survive...I highly doubt it.
I do not think I have what it takes.
Would I join in on the fight?
So this is fascinating to me.
So in honor of all those who have fought the fight and those who have survive I am in awe of you!

With that being said I am having a Patriotic Giveaway!!
This 3-D star is my way of showing my patriotism (and it doesn't hurt nor do I have to survive, except living in my car, and kids who need to be here and there)!
It is a  7 1/4 inch Rusty 3-Dimensional Prim style Puffy Star hand painted in a patriotic theme. It has a rusty wire for hanging. It measures 7 ¼ inches from tip to tip (not including the hanger). Raffia and a bit of cloth is tied on the top.
The Rules:
Be a follower of this blog.
That is it!
I will pick the winner on June 15th-my birthday!
I will announce it on the 16th.
Anyone who has served our country is a star and there are many out there.
(Especially my Husband!)
I am and will always be in AWE!!
Thank you for helping me remember D-Day!
Enjoy,
Barb

This could scare some of you...

We were talking on the OFG Yahoo forum about craft areas.  I have seen some really nice ones.  One day I hope to have one.  In the mean time I am lucky enough to have a room in the basement, actually two rooms.  It is a bit scary....
I have an area to paint, an area for my books and some wood, and it is shrinking a bit because I now have the computer(s) in here too.  So when kids have to do home work I get to monitor what they are doing on the Internet-since I live down here.
I have officially taken over another room that is unfinished and it houses boxes of wood and now a multitude of frames.   Hence the reason for destashing on my Etsy shop.  So much wood and never enough time!
It is not pretty here at all but it serves its purpose.  I also have an area where I can staple on screen and do a bit of sanding.  For real sanding I head outside!
Love my air compressor!!
Notice the boxes in the corner?  I love boxes-it is a problem and another scary thing.  Empty or full I have a huge stack of them.
As I was taking these photos my dad came over and dropped off more frames.
Then he proceeded to ask me "How many more do you need?"
Does it look like I need more?!?!?!
I guess if it keeps us both busy and out of trouble that is a good thing!
I dream that one day I will have that perfectly organized, white, beautiful room but for now I am happy with what I have.  Messy or not it is home!
Remember to sign up for my giveaway!
Thanks for coming and taking a look-sorry about the dust!!
Enjoy,
Barb

I Really Need to Stick to Painting...

Through my church I was asked to teach 11 year old girls about preparing to became a young woman which includes crafts, learning about life, religion, and homemaking!?!  It was my turn to teach them this last week and I did not have a clue about what to do.  Easter seemed to come so early this year and I had planned on teaching them how to sew on buttons to a little magnet bunny craft project.
Out came the sewing machine, the iron and board, the swear jar…you are getting the picture thus far, right?
I have a cute little bunny pattern that I bought years ago and have used it before.
So how bad could it be to sew up a few little bunnies. NO WHITE THREAD!
It would either be military (husband) green or scout (son) brown. So they got the brown because it was already loaded-is that the word?
Sewed a few up-much less language then usual! SHOCK!
But still I had to go to the fabric store. The helpful clerk asked if I was looking for “flats” when I said I needed a yard of material. “Flats”?  So I told her I did not speak "fabric". She showed me around and at this point I am trying not to have a panic attack. I don’t do well in places I am not familiar with or know what I am looking for and it was a sea of material….
“Deep breath, be one with the air” as my husband says, ringing in my head.
Poor clerk! She took me by the hand and helped me find some material, white thread and a few buttons.
OK, all is well.
Ended up teaching the girls how to thread a needle and sew on three buttons, put a face on the bunny and color the inside of the ears! YEA! Done!
Homemaking???   My only two talents are painting and eating!
Poor girls. Talk about being out of your comfort zone!
So now I am offering you a “quickie” giveaway to whom ever leaves a comment (good or bad). Hoping to give a good home to these poor little magnet bunnies.
I will try that Random.org drawing thingy again and pick two “lucky” winners on Saturday morning!
I have to go clean the house which will take me until Saturday due to all the dust from pulling up the tiles in the entrance and hallway. At least I do know how to dust!
Remember to sign up for my “real” giveaway!
Enjoy your day and hopefully this post has not tramatized everyone!

A Bit Late and a Bit Early

April has almost come and gone...where does the time go?  I had planned on celebrating an anniversary in April.  I have now been on the huge learning curve of Etsy for two years.  April 6th was my two year mark.  I think I have learned allot.
Then I noticed that I have been on blogger for two years come the end of June.  Well, thought I, lets combined the two and have a giveaway.
So my good blog friend Vicky said it was OK for me to use her idea and celebrate by listing a few things and having you pick a favorite.  These are some of my favorites!!
1) A set of Raggedy's.  The frame size on these are 10 x 11 and you would receive both.  This is a Susan Jill Hall pattern.
2)  My try at sewing a bias around this fun bunny.  This hangs 23 inches not counting the ribbon and is 10 inches wide.  This is a Susan Jill Hall pattern.  Love the belly on this bunny!
3)  Love this basket full of posies.  The frame measures 12 x 12 and the flowers are painted on a wider weave of black screening.  Love this effect.  This is a Cheri Saffiote pattern.
4)  Hoppy Spring bunny face!  This frame measures 10 x 6 and is a Shara Reiner pattern.  I love the color purple!
5)   My fun little bunny in a primitive frame.  This frame measures 14 x 8 1/2 and is a Frank Bielec design.
I really like the simplicity of this design!
6)    Love this Angel.  It is a Shara Reiner pattern and the frame measures 10 x 9.  What more could you want in life...an angel, some flowers, some cherries and a heart!

Here are the rules;
Be a follower of my blog and  new followers always welcome.
Would love for you to post to your side bar if you have a blog.
Would love for you to follow my Face book page (another huge learning curve for me).
Would love for you to follow me on Twitter.
Would love for you to follow me on the addictive Pinterest.
These links are all located on the left side bar.
Tell me which piece of art you enjoy the most and if you do not have a blog please leave me an e-mail address so I can contact you.
We will have Two winners!
You can leave all that you have done on one comment.
This drawing will take place on May 7th.

I hope you find something that you like and will leave me a comment!
Thanks for all your support over the last two years.  I so appreciate all of you!

Barb
