Well it was Christmas in July here at my house.
I was the lucky winner from Vicky's Art Blog Summertime Giveaway!!
Not only did I win this FABULOUS Watermelon Welcome sign but a multitude of fun gifts!
She sent one of her Whimsical Folk Art Patriotic Chickens!
She even shares her tutorial on how to make them HERE.
She knows I am allergic to fabric and sewing!!
I kept finding all these goodies!
Chickens and Watermelons.
The little ceramic ones are measuring cups--who would have thunk!?!
Then a patriotic apron, salt and pepper shakers in the shape of stars and a patriotic candle holder....great way to light the sparklers outside!
It was Christmas in July at my house and my kids thought I had ordered all this for my Birthday!
No just the generosity of a true blog friend!

THANK YOU Vicky for all the goodies!!

Sunflowers!!

I was the lucky winner of these wonderful sunflowers from Vicky of Vicky's Art Blog giveaway!
They are fabulous and so well made.  I love sunflowers and these will fit in great for this summer season and decorating.
She also sent a sweet little bottle of lotion and for us here in the desert we go through quite a bit of lotion!
Thank you so much Vicky!
Please visit her here!!
I was finally able to finish these sunflowers in the mist of our remodeling job.  It was good to have a theraputic moment during all this choas.  It just is not summer without sunflowers around.
When we were driving through Kansas once I remember seeing fields of sunflowers and just thinking how wondeful and bright they were.  Since then I have loved these beautiful flowers.
Now back to the remodeling...Enjoy your day!

Introducing Vicky from Paintspots and Splinters!!

I want to introduce you to my friend and PAFA/OFG team mate.
Vicky is one talented gal and makes me giggle!  She has a wild sense of humor and I so enjoy her!
She is also having a fabulous giveaway on her blog so head on over and get signed up!!
So here is Vicky and some of her fabulous art work!!
1)Your first name and name of your business and how you got your business name?
Hey everyone! I am Victoria, Vicky to all my friends, and owner of a small company called “Paintspots and Splinters”.  My business name appeared to me after many hours of contemplation. I seriously just thought about everything that I used to make my crafts.  Paint and wood was at the TOP of the list!
2)How long have you been in business?
I ran a small business under my name for about 8 years until the twins came along in 2005 (we have 6 children all together). I took a break, as one would expect with a baby and ESPECIALLY TWO, and started up again using Etsy to sell my goods in August of 2010.

3)Who or what inspires you?
Anything and Everyone!
4)What is your creative style, primitive, country, folk art?
I’m a decorative painter and LOVE whimsy. I call a lot of my pieces “Primsy”; a little whimsy mixed with primitive! My favorite painting technique is the shabby chic style although I’ll try a bit of everything!
5)What medium do you use in creating, clay, fabric, altered art, wood etc.?
I like to work with wood and LOTS of it but I’ve also found pleasure in working with fabrics and painting on them. I use acrylic paints but also dabble in Oils in some of my Fine Art pieces that you can see on my blog as I don’t sell those. I do sell decorative wood crafts and Primitive/Whimsical Make-Dos. This year I’m introducing some small home decor like picture frames, signboards, small shelves, and some small stools.
6)What are your links?

Please stop by and visit Vicky's links.  Her work is Fabulous!
Enjoy,

Meet Bob and Vicky's Art Giveaway!!

This post will be a bit scary at first but will have a happy ending:
First Scary:  Meet Bob!
I went to Parents day at my daughter's school and was "lucky" enough to go to her ceramics class.
The teacher let us parents play with clay!?!
So Bob was born, hatched, found under the patch-not quite sure.  We had 35 minutes to come up with something and never having worked with clay this was my creation.
My daughter did the painting and the finishing so I think it looks pretty good after I left Bob to her care.
Still a bit scary so I think I will stick to painting!!
Now Happy ending:
Vicky at Vicky's Art is having another fabulous give away.  The one thing about Vicky's Giveaways is that there are so many fun options to choose from.
My choice was this fun Valentine's day stacker.
I encourage every one to head over to Vicky's Art and pick your favorite.  This will end on January 25th and the way time is flying by that will be too soon!!
Enjoy,
Barb

Merry Christmas!

I hope that Santa finds all of you and it will be a joyful holiday with family and friends.
As we all know the reason for the season I hope that we will all take a few minutes to remember why we celebrate this time of year.

I received a special gift in the mail from Vicky at Vicky's Art.  So with this cutie in mind, my wish for everyone is to have a special angel to watch over you during the Holiday Season and the New Year!
Enjoy!
