A Day to Remember...

I am sure we all know where we were and what we were doing 9/11/01.
My daughter started pre-school that day and my husband had just retired from the Air Force a few months earlier.  I was sure he would be recalled and was not looking forward to that phone call.
I remember the city of  Las Vegas being so quite with no aircraft in the air.
It was an eerie strange day.
I was so thankful my husband was not recalled back to the military and luckily for me I did not have any direct connection to anyone who had lost their life that day.
But still a sad and devastating day.
To honor all the victims of Patriot's Day I will be giving away one of these painted flags to anyone who leaves a comment on my blog today telling me what was their feeling of that day or what stands out in their mind the most about this event.
This giveaway will end tonight at midnight MST (Mountain Time).
I will use random.org to pick from the comments.
The winner will be announced tomorrow.
Remember the past but enjoy today,
Barb

  2. My carpets were being cleaned that morning and me and the carpet guy just stared open-mouthed at Katie Couric and the TV. Still stunned that all of that went down. I'll never forget it.

  3. Such a sad day. Kayleigh was in the first grade and I was sitting at my painting desk watching the Today Show. I was in utter disbelief at what I was seeing, it was like a scene from a movie. It was so somber in the halls of the school when I picked Kayleigh up that day.

  4. It truly was a sad day. I remember when I got to work, my boss was watching TV. I asked if it was a movie. He said no, that is was live TV from New York. Unbelievable. It was such a shock that it was all too real.

  5. I was at work and it didn't sink in right away what was going on. My son was in Pittsburgh and I jumped on the phone and called him to make sure he was okay. Then we all gathered around the tv and watched. I felt devastated. It was that time that I found out that this wasn't the first time that we had been attacked by terrorists. War is hell :(

    Blessings,
