Apparently the first day of summer was yesterday and what was I doing...
Because my living room is under construction (we have to put in new windows, siding and now apparently a new wall)
The kids and I have been weeding the flower beds, the garden, doing the mowing, watering the yard, and harvesting peas, beets and lettuce.
Did I say I was not made for yard work. I love the look of a beautiful yard but my "black thumb" tends to kill off anything of beautiful. Why does it not work on weeds!?!
My husband is more of the "yard man" but he is a bit busy.

So if we are not working on the house or in the yard I am taking my daughter out on the road.
She is learning to drive...did you notice the passenger in the car-that is me with my white hair!!
She is doing fairly well for a small kid driving a big mini-van and Ford Truck.
Then this is also the summer for working on Merit Badges. My son has about 8 in the works at present. Some of these take up to 3-4 months to complete so we are trying to be organized and stay on top of these to get them done.
He earned 9 at the last Court of Honor. I am happy to see he is excited about Scouting!
Both of us are learning allot through the requirements for the Merit Badges.
I guess you are never to old to learn as I am still trying to reach the top of my ever growing learning curve!
I hope you all are enjoying your summer!

I noticed this morning all of my flowers are dying. I give up. It seems like you have a busy summer ahead with the remodel but I know you will be pleased when it's over. Driving....my oldest is still a few years away but I hope to be more patient with her then say, my mom was with me.

My summer has been fantastic so far! I'm with you on yard work...I kill plants too. Didn't have to help with merit badges but I did have two sons who had to learn to drive. Been through many traffic incidents with them but they grew up. One even became a deputy sheriff...LOL...he got the most tickets in his teenage years. Thanks for joining & posting my give-away on your site.

Yeah doggonnit! Why can't our black thumbs kill the weeds? Wow, it certainly sounds like Summer is on its' way for y'all. I remember when mine was in boy scouts earning the badges. No, we're never too old to learn:) Oh boy, learning to drive. I learned in the hay field... lol. You'll have to share photos with us of your renovations. Have a happy Summer!

Be blessed!

Oh, me too, Barb! I'm exhausted from all of the yard work! Poor hubby never has enough time when he's home and everything is getting out of control. I can't mow the front because of the hill and downward slope (I almost fell off!!) but boy, I've been trimming, hauling and weed eating. I. Am. Tired!!! Have a good one!
ReplyDeleteI loved scouting...it was fun when my son was in it.. and my hubby's been scout and cub master several times. He loves it.
ReplyDeleteMisses it now. He would have a hard time with it since he has had strokes. :(
Our summer so far has been yuckie hot LOL I don't do hot well anymore. It's suppose to be in the mid to high 80s for a week. Yikes!
Also working on moving soon. That is a good thing.
Gotta run, dinner
Take care, Janet W
Sounds like your summer is going to be full!! Enjoy!!
